Missing: #1 player in the world
News flash: Tiger is no longer Tiger. That's right. No one ever saw this coming, as Tiger Woods is starting to come down to earth and below. Tiger is struggling beyond belief, and rightfully so with the past year he has had to endured. There is a chance Tiger doesn't even qualify for the Ryder cup, which is embarrassing on his part. People keep debating if whether the real,dominant Tiger will ever emerge again and catch Jack and his 18 majors. That's up to Tiger. He has to remain focus and needs to practice more. Even Tiger has said he hasn't put much work ethic out on the practice course, which is understandable. The fact is, Tiger can reach his "Tiger status" again, but the effort and focus he puts into it while climbing that ladder will be the difference maker.

I think Tiger should take some time off to practice more and get back with the family. He isnt even close to his old self. Tiger needs to take time off or he wont get better.
ReplyDeleteI think you saying Tiger not qualifying for the Ryder Cup embarassing is a bit of an overstatement. Only the top 8 Americans qulaify and Tiger has played in very few tounraments this year, and hasn't played very well. Also when you say he has come down to earth and "below", thats ridiculous. If u don't remember he has two top 5 finishes in majors and a top 25 in the other. I know he has had a few very bad tournaments, but everyone has a bad year. I don't think you could name a golfer ever who has never had this happen to him, even jack nicklaus went through times where he wasn't playing well. Also tell me how a golfer can put the time in and practice hard when he is constantly being swarmed by paparizzi and having people constantly in his ear? Also Tiger has showed he can be Tiger. Correct me if I am wrong, but did tiger not fire a back nine 31 on saturday at Pebble Beach to get into contention, that 9 holes was vintage Tiger. While he hasn't done that with great regularity, he showed he can do it. I know you didn't mention this, but all the talk about Phil Mickelson deserving to be the #1 golfer in the world is nonsense. Phil had the ideal oppurtunity to take overr the reigns as #1, and what did he do, fire a 8 over par 78 to not even finish in the top half of the tournament. Bottom Line, Tiger Woods is having a down year by all respects, but calling it embarrasing or saying he has come below earth is absolutely idiotic. anyway let me know your thoughts thatsportskid.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, this has nothing to do with Mickelson or the #1 ranking. This is about Tiger and his game. Correct me if i'm wrong, but Phil can't tee off or putt for Tiger. Tiger's standards for himself and the public's expectations of him is to be the best player ever to play the game, and dominate every tournament with a little bit of Tiger magic mixed in. And to answer your question, Tiger can get away from the publicity and go practice. He hid from the camera this past winter for over 2 months. This fall/winter he should and has said he will take time off to be with his kids and address his game more when practicing.
ReplyDeleteAlso I didn't know the public expected Tiger to DOMINATE EVERY TOURNAMENT. If the public expected that they would have been dissapointed years ago. Its pretty tough for a guy to dominate every tournament, even Jack Nicklaus couldn't do that.
ReplyDeleteYes the public does expect Tiger to win every tournament. Sure, he doesn't win every single time, but whenever Tiger plays, a win is the first thought. Tiger is only human, but the public expectation is for him to be raising that trophy on Sunday.

ReplyDeleteOk, so your saying that Tiger Woods is expected to dominate a different course every week against a field of 150 competitiors every time he picks up a club? Thats ridiculous, many people think Jack Nicklaus was better than Tiger, and I can tell you for sure he didn't dominate every tournament. Expecting a player to dominate every tournament is so ridiculous. Even when he was playing the best golf of his career he wasn't dominating every tournament. And currently I would say the public doesn't expect Tiger to dominate every tournamet. And when you say you hear that everywhere, where do you mean? Give me one example where someone says I EXPECT TIGER WOODS TO DOMINATE EVERY GOLF TOURNAMENT HE PLAYS IN.
ReplyDeleteTiger is definitely always the favorite which pretty much means he should win every tournament. no matter how many people are in the tournament, Tiger is always expected to win and sometimes dominate the field. He is number 1, maybe he should live up to it right now. Past doesnt matter
